| Preventive Maintenance (PM) means keeping apparatus in a state of usefulness or readiness. Repair means to restore or replace that which has become inoperable. Regularly performed PM ensures apparatus reliability, reduces the frequency and cost of repairs, and lessens out-of-service time.
Service tests are necessary to ensure that the pump will perform within its design limitations, and to check for defects that otherwise might go unnoticed until too late. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requires performing a pump test annually; the Insurance Service Office (ISO) requires apparatus to be tested annually in order to receive full grading schedule credit; the Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) requires annual DOT inspection.
PM Programs are normally performed at our shop -- with the exception of the Pump Only Program that is also offered as a road service (at higher road rates). We encourage customers to take advantage of our lower shop rates and more efficient working conditions by offering truck pick up and delivery service by a Commercially Licensed emergency vehicle driver.
